Creating a Contract

Brightenly lets you create, send, and track contracts without any external tools. Contracts can be drafted from scratch, uploaded as a PDF, or created from a template.

How to create a contract

Go to Contracts in the sidebar and click New Contract, or open a project and click New Contract from its Contracts tab.

Choose a creation method:

Method When to use
From scratch Draft the contract text directly in Brightenly using the built-in editor
Upload PDF Upload an existing contract document
From template Start from a saved contract template

Adding a title

Give the contract a clear title (e.g. "Web Design Agreement — Acme Corp"). This appears in all communications and on the signing page.

Adding signers

Add the people who need to sign the contract:

  1. Click Add Signer
  2. Enter the signer's name and email address
  3. Repeat for all required signers

Signers are notified by email when the contract is ready for their signature. The order signers are added determines the signing order if sequential signing is required.

Saving as draft

Contracts start as Draft and are not visible to signers until you send them. Take as long as you need to review the content before sending.
