Gmail shows "Connection error" or "Disconnected"

Your Gmail connection may have expired or been revoked. To fix this:

  1. Go to Settings → Connected Integrations
  2. Click Disconnect Gmail
  3. Click Connect Gmail and go through the authorization flow again

If the error persists after reconnecting, check that the Google account you're connecting has not had third-party app access disabled by a Google Workspace admin.

Emails are not appearing in Brightenly

After connecting Gmail, new emails should appear within a few minutes. If they're not showing up:

  • Check that you're looking at the correct account (top-right account switcher)
  • Confirm the Gmail connection shows as Connected in Settings
  • Try disconnecting and reconnecting Gmail

Note: Only emails received after connecting Gmail are synced. Historical emails are not imported.

Sent emails are not showing in the Sent tab

Emails sent directly from your Gmail app (outside of Brightenly) will not appear in Brightenly's inbox. Only emails sent from within Brightenly are captured in the Sent tab.

A client is not receiving my emails

Check the following:

  1. The email address on the contact record is correct
  2. Your Gmail account is still connected and showing Connected status
  3. The email is not sitting in your Drafts tab instead of having been sent

If the issue continues, try sending a test email to yourself to confirm the connection is working.
