Tax Rates & Tax IDs

Brightenly supports adding tax to invoices and storing tax identification numbers for your clients.

Adding a tax rate to a line item

When adding or editing a line item, select a tax rate from the Tax Rate dropdown. The tax is calculated on top of the line item total and shown as a separate line on the invoice.

Managing tax rates

Tax rates are managed through your Stripe account. Rates you've created in Stripe are available to select on Brightenly invoice line items. To add or edit tax rates, go to your Stripe Tax settings.

Tax IDs

Tax IDs (VAT numbers, GST numbers, etc.) can be stored against contacts, companies, and your own account.

  • Your account's tax ID — shown on all outgoing invoices
  • Client tax ID — stored on the contact or company record and shown on their invoices

To add a tax ID, open the contact or company, click Edit, and enter the tax ID in the Tax ID field.
